starring Clint Eastwood, Hillary Swank

I’m a big fan of Clint Eastwood.  Not his politics, but his movies.  From the early days in cowboy films to today’s actor/director features, he is not just a Hollywood icon, but he’s a true master of the art of film making.  This was Hillary Swank’s first film and she does a great job in it, but the movie is also well-augmented by the presence of another of my favorites: Morgan Freeman.

The story is relatively simple, but the movie focuses on characters and their back-story and buildup to their current situation.  Most of Eastwood’s acting is portrayed through facial expression and an economy of words – something he is singularly good at.  Freeman, of course, poetically expresses ideas and concepts in his own way.  Swank does a little of both and shows her hard commitment to making a good film.

The movie is extremely well-made, very poignant, and is one of the better films I’ve seen in a long time.  I had high hopes for it and was not disappointed.  Definitely worth seeing.  Highly recommended.
